DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LISBON / ÉVORA

 

Arrival at Lisbon International Airport. Assistance at Lisbon Airport and pick up rental car at the rental Car desk.

In 1986, the city's historic center of évora was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, stood out for its various historical monuments in contrast to the white houses that were inspired by the Islamic Art of Alandalus. Visit the cathedral with interesting Gothic details, The Roman Temple of Evora, known as the Roman Temple of Diana, and the strange, most impressive, century-old Bones Chapel located in St. Francis Church. It was built in the 17th century on the initiative of three Franciscan monks who, in the spirit of the time (Religious Counter-Reformation according to the norms of the Council of Trent), intended to convey the message of the transience of life, as can be deduced from the famous warning at the entrance : "We bones here are waiting for you." DAY 2 – ÉVORA | ESTREMOZ | ÉVORA

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Commanding vineyards and golden plains, Estremoz is a historic city within two layers of defensive walls. The upper core was a medieval home to royalty, where the Queen Elizabeth of Aragon passed away in the 14th century. In the lower reaches there’s a newer wall from the 17th century responding to the threat from Spain after the Restoration War. House of many kings and queens of Portugal, especially King Dinis and Holy Queen Isabel, Estremoz has a substantial heritage. Both in terms of culture and archeology, which we can see in the many monuments spread across the city. Designed in accordance with the traditional architecture of the Alentejo region, you will visit a winery that has put Estremoz on the map of the great wines, welcoming visitors from all over the world. The purpose is to discover the achievements of the winery, and also discover the reasons for their   passion for the Alentejo. With a cooking class followed by lunch we will offer the time and tranquility that are perfect for enjoying our wines and the local cuisine. Dinner free. Overnight at the hotel in Évora.

 

DAY 3 – ÉVORA | REGUENGOS DE MONSARAZ | ÉVORA

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Self-explore the historical center and your best spots and do not miss to taste a delicious coffee on the main square of Giraldo, good opportunity to mingle with the locals. In the afternoon head to Reguengos de Monsarraz and end your day in one of Portugal’s most beautifully preserved medieval towns, roaming through its streets and monuments in Reguengos de Monsaraz and its hilltop castle from where you can watch the sunset over the stunning and one of the biggest artificial lake views of Europe, the Alqueva Lake. Visit with Portuguese delicacies in a Local wine Estate Producer, that has been producing wine over than 200 years at the end of the day. Lunch & Dinner free. Overnight at the hotel in Évora.

 

DAY 4 – ÉVORA | ARRAIOLOS | DEPARTURE FROM LISBON AIRPORT

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of the hotel and head to Arraiolos a small town, one of the best kept secrets of Portugal, with a true feel of rural Portugal.  Admire the Arraiolos tapestry rugs, a Portuguese arts and crafts that are amazing and they are all embroidered by hand. After this charming visit we will head to a local wine estate producer to learn about the wines of the Alentejo region followed by a delicious and traditional handmade lunch. The winery has also one of the biggest private carriage collections, that is just outstanding. Continue to Lisbon and drop off Rental car at Lisbon Airport.

Have a nice flight back home.
